Made Men Wiki

Free text-based mafia games in your browser

Text-based mafia games have been around since the early days of the web: no download, no fast reflexes, just a browser tab, a few minutes at a time, and a slow climb from street hood to boss. Plenty have closed over the years. These ones are still running in 2026 and free to start.

What to look for

Chicago at night
Chicago, the third city in Made Men.

The games

1. Made Men: Mafia Empire RPG

Ours, so we’ll be upfront: we think it’s the best place to start if you liked Mafia Wars. You spend energy on jobs district by district, master them for three stars, beat each district’s boss and move on through 8 cities across the USA and Cuba, each with its own money.

Friends in your My Mafia make you stronger and send you Energy Packs. There are fights and bounties against players near your level, properties that earn while you’re away, collections, families with their own chat, contracts that send your crew out while you’re offline, and smuggling runs from level 20.

Good for: a few short visits a day, and anyone who misses the Facebook mafia games. One world, never reset. Free in your browser, with an Android app. Play Made Men · Your first 30 levels

2. Torn

The biggest of the text-based crime games, running since 2004. A sandbox more than a job list: crimes, gyms, factions, travel abroad, a stock market and other players who will mug you the moment you look away.

Good for: Players who want a deep world and a big community, and don’t mind a steep start. torn.com

3. Omerta

One of the oldest mafia games online. Crimes, families and a climb up the ranks against everyone else, in a world that starts over now and then so new players get a fair go.

Good for: Competitive players who like a fresh start every so often. barafranca.com

4. The Crims

An old favourite in Europe: rob, deal and fight your way up in rounds that last a few weeks, then everyone starts again.

Good for: Short, intense seasons with friends. thecrims.com

5. Mob Wars: La Cosa Nostra

From the same Facebook years as Mafia Wars and much the same idea: jobs, fights and a mob built from your friends. The Facebook version closed; the game lives on in the browser at KanoPlay.

Good for: Players who want the old Facebook feel exactly as it was. kanoplay.com

6. The Mafia Boss

A simple browser mafia game that has been running since 2005, right through Mafia Wars’ rise and fall. Quick to start, no download.

Good for: A light game to dip into. themafiaboss.com

7. The Fifth Family

A new crime RPG from 2026, in the browser with apps for iOS and Android, and weekly updates from its developers.

Good for: Players who want something brand new with an active developer. thefifthfamily.com

8. Chicago Rum

A free browser crime RPG set in Prohibition-era Chicago, played in rounds, with more pictures than most games on this list.

Good for: Fans of the 1920s and round-based play. chicagorum.com
